Michael Swaney, M.D.

 

Dr. Swaney earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at The University of Michigan. He earned his M.D. degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his General Psychiatry residency as well as his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina.

Dr. Swaney is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the North Carolina Psychiatric Association.

 

Dr. Swaney has been a dedicated full-time psychiatrist since 2006. From then until 2017, he was a Staff Psychiatrist with the two major hospital systems in Charlotte, NC: Novant Health and Carolinas HealthCare (now Atrium Health). During these years, he gained a great deal of experience, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. From 2017-2020, he served as the Director of the Youth Services inpatient unit at a Behavioral Health facility in Saint Simons Island, GA.

 

Dr. Swaney and his family are happy to have returned to the Charlotte area. He joined Eastover Psychiatric Group in 2020.

 

Dr. Swaney strives to deliver compassionate, individualized, and holistic care for children, adolescents and adults. He is experienced and comfortable treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders including ADHD, Depression, Bipolar disorder, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and Psychosis, especially from a pharmacologic standpoint. Dr. Swaney has a special interest in Sports Psychiatry.
